LRC Competitions
The Liturgical Research Centre of the Syro-Malabar Church organized a competition of writing lyrics with a view to having an Anthem for the Syro-Malabar Church. The purpose of this contest is to formulate a hymn for the Syro-Malabar Church like the Papal Anthem which can then be sung on ordinary and solemn occasions when the faithful of the Syro-Malabar Church come together.
It is envisaged that the Anthem should contain the Christ experience of St. Thomas the Apostle and refer to the origin of the Syro-Malabar Church formed through the evangelization of St. Thomas, its heritage, identity, liturgy, discipline and spirituality. It must also contain elements like the growth of the Church as a sui iuris (autonomous) Church and the fervent missionary spirit of the Syro-Malabar Church in sending missionaries abroad, even to distant countries. The vitality and dynamic nature of living the Faith must also be reflected.
The first prize was awarded with a sum of 10001-. The first five winners were awarded certificates of honour on behalf of the Synod of Bishops.
